#8 Scout's 5th Birthday!

Oh La La Darlings!
Fancy Scout officially turned five this summer,
and we celebrated with a splendiferous affair (that's fancy for a big party)
It was an esquisite event, filled with glitter, glam, feathers, and all sorts of fancy.
It was a glorious Birthday Soirre (that's French for party) and we were so happy we could celebrate with a few of Scout's darling fancy friends.

It wasn't too hard to decide on a theme for Scout's party- how can we have a party revolving around Scout's favorite things?-glitter, boas, ribbon, stories, and dress-up. Fancy Nancy it was!
As Fancy Scout's mom, I really wanted her 'envolved' in the party planning this year. And party planned she did! I had no idea there was so much opinion in such a little girl! It was fun working on the decorations together, and she would get mad if I ever did anything party related without asking her first. I even bit my toungue, and gave her free reign of the birthday cake. She did faboulous, and it was perfectly fancy in every way.
We had to make sure the door was properly fancified, so her darlings would know they were at la Maison de Scout.
Scout let Porter (occasionally) be on the party planning committee as well, even though there wasn't too much fancy about him.

Let the party begin. Scout wanted her favorite things. Pretzels. Candy. Canteloup and watermelon. Popcorn. And Candy.

We did a little window painting the night before- with Scout's help. She was so proud of the parts she did.
All the lovely darlings arrived all dolled up. We started off with telling a Fancy Nancy story, and making sure they were all esquisitely glammed with Fancy Nancy's special ordered glitter sparkeling in their hair and on their cheeks.
Then we played a few fancy games, all including glitter, jewels, and and tu-tus.
We had all dress up props, and set up a fancy little photo-booth for the girls to take pictures in.

All the beautiful girls!
And what kind of a party would it be without presents. . .
And cake. . .

Manicures. . .
And nana there to celebrate too!
I couldn't have done it without Lori and Aubri. We put them to work, cutting fruit, helping with dress-ups, helping with glitter on our craft project, and giving the girls manicures! Birthday parties are so much work, but so worth it to see the kids laughing and playing... well, at least that's what I keep telling myself. The next day was Scout's actual birthday:
These two handsomes were up bright and early with breakfast in bed for their favorite five year old.
I LOVE the breakfast-in-bed pictures!

We spent the rest of the day going to the movies, playing at the splash-park, stopping for Iceberg milkshakes with friends, and watching late-night fireworks in the park.

I cannot believe that it was already five years ago that I held the sweetest little girl with the biggest dark eyes, and I knew my life would never be the same. Scout has brought so much happiness into our family. After loosing Cael, I was so anxious for Scout to be born. I will always remember how happy I was after bringing all six pounds of her home from the hospital, those were the best days of literally spending all day just holding and snuggling with my new baby girl. Life is just so so good with Scout Lee Kamaile in it!
