Out of the mouth of babes 4 year olds.
A few weeks ago we were having a family prayer with Ammon's mom, and asked Scout to say it. Scout started off great, then told Heavenly Father everything she is grateful for, then it hits.
And by 'it' I mean a "where did that come from Scout!?!" moment.
She said, and I quote:
"Please bless mom. That she can stop being so mean to dad. Please help mom to be a nice mom, and to be nice to dad. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen"
Uhhh, awkward.
With Ammon's mom 2 feet away from me- suuuuper awkward.
No idea where this came from. I will be first to admit that I am not perfect, but this literally came out of nowhere, completely unprovoked.
Then of course, the more I tried to say anything to make the situation better, the more guilty I sounded, so we just left the awkward silence.
Not to be topped by 2 weeks later when Scout struck again.
Again with Ammon's mom!
I had just gotten to Cedar City to meet up with Lori and a few of their close family friends. We just walked up to them in standing in a circle and I gave my round of hugs. Right then, Scout came walking through the middle of the circle, but stopped at me, patted my stomach, and said "Hi little baby!" Then walked away. Horrified, I looked up to 6 smiling faces, and heard, "do you have something to tell us?"
No! I don't.
Once again, the more I tried to explain that that came out of nowhere, the more guilty I sounded. So I just smiled, and pretended to be looking for Porter, and just walked away.
Maybe my daughter is out to get me.
Or maybe she just has a twisted sense of humor.
Either way, payback will be sweet (in about 12 years. . . )
